Part 1 Non-Technical Data Story

Day 2: My daily data workout. Check out day 1 project: https://bit.ly/3Xif6Ti

It was challenging to decide what project to work on today, so as soon as I got up at 6 am, I began racking my head. I considered all the problems in Nigeria. :) food supply, flood, terrorism, kidnapping, politics and government, oh yeah , politics and government,One of my favorite Nigerian politicians invited an opposition party flag bearer to the commissioning of a his own state project, and he actively campaigned for the invite person, woah, who does that. Although I am not very familiar with Nigerian politics, the speech given during the event made a lot of sense. several justifications, as well as an intended statement. (PS: Don’t judge my words, rather believe my data craft). BTW, I’m currently gathering information on the availability and cost of food in Nigeria. YOY, that would be a coming soon.

Wike and Obi
Wike it is! cc: https://www.thecable.ng/

I didn’t want to do a lot, so Wike it is. I made the decision to monitor his social media using twitter. Profound! I quickly pulled out python to scrape his tweets i was more interested in those with his signature “N.E.W” (Nyesom Ezenwo Wike) at first. The period picked was from March 2021 to November 2022.

The additional issues I want to look at are:
1. To assess the response to his tweets as the presidential election approaches. Has engagement increased or decreased? Or was there no predictable pattern?
2. tweet that received the most likes.
3. the most widely shared tweet.
4. tweet with the most responses.

I noticed the whole tweet came from an android.
Also i wanted to check the.
5. the regularity of his tweets.

I exported the file for visualization after finishing the data manipulation in Python. (oh, i was tempted to use google collab again this time, that notebook saves time, lol..it is low code. ukr :) :)) this is a non-technical something. Did i use collab/ why did i not? Ask me, I will tell you, but I will assume you know already or you’ll get to know during the technical story.

Code Snippet

It would be simple to create a static report or story from them, but if I created a dashboard where users could view tweets for a given time period, I think it would be more appealing and interesting.
After determining the type of presentation to be made, my next challenge is deciding between Power Bi (PBI), Tableau, and Data Studio as the Visualization tool.
I used PBI yesterday; I should probably use Tableau today. Alternatively, I could just create the narrative in Tableau and then create the dashboard in PBI. Jeez! Spent 5 minutes analyzing the Pros and Cons. I have a tendency to overthink things. (At last he went with the later option).

Looking at the dashboard (PBI) ; my fingers are hurting now. The interface was designed with the intention of giving the user a tweeter-like ambiance while they’re using PBI, which is why certain fashion trends were regularly used. It is not surprising to observe the impact of mentioning Peter Obi in a tweet these days.

Another thing that stuck out was how fascinated people are with federal rumors, lol. Additionally, Tableau Public kept crashing and hanging as I was creating the tableau narrative. It was a struggle, but God prevailed. :) There are other details on the story you can interact with the it at:

The technical procedure for this straightforward project will be covered in part two of this article. The article would appear on Python-In Plain English. In Plain English
The majority of my projects are open source; for project files, visit the git link in my bio. Merci!

Other projects in the pipeline, mostly NLP:
1. What happened to the cost of rice in Nigeria since 2000?
2. Peter Obi, Can social media win it again?
3. Politics, Government and Nigeria
